Matthew Reese began his experience with Lamb Hanson Lamb in an unlikely way, as high school friends with President/CEO Patrick Lamb. After receiving an MBA from the University of Wisconsin in 2007, Matthew joined Lamb Hanson Lamb in 2011 with a very specific game plan in mind: to gain commercial real estate appraisal training and licensure so that he could eventually run his father’s appraisal business. Matthew became a licensed Washington State General Certified Real Estate Appraiser in 2014- about as quick as humanly possible. He also gained a diversity of experience working at Lamb Hanson Lamb, which he credits Patrick for, who allowed Matthew to “appraise everything” including hotels, industrial, mixed use, and ground-up development.
Fast forward to today, where Matthew’s game plan continues to hit its marks. He is the President/CEO of James & Associates Real Estate Appraisals Inc. Matthew’s father (a pastor) has ceded the company to his son while continuing as a consulting presence at the firm. The company was recently awarded a five-year subcontract with Sound Transit and has performed multiple assignments for other public agencies. As these kinds of contracts increase, Matthew foresees opportunities for a partnership with Lamb Hanson Lamb- one that would be mutually beneficial to both companies. Based on what Matthew identifies as transparency, the relationship with Patrick is one based on trust. “Systems, process, how he ran the business- Patrick is very cognizant of his ROI and personnel,” he adds.
When not working on public sector assignments, Matthew spends his time appraising and consulting for private clients. He is also on multiple boards including the Many Lights Foundation and the Rainier Valley Community Development Fund. Like Patrick and Lamb Hanson Lamb, Matthew’s combination of experience and community engagement makes him a welcome, valued asset in the Seattle market. Having a game plan only helps.
